Intervention

Youth gang Intervention is a social service that involves working with young people who are involved in gangs or at risk of joining a gang. Gang outreach workers often work in communities with high levels of gang activity and may be employed by government agencies, non-profit organizations, or community-based groups. The goal of youth gang outreach is to prevent young people from joining gangs and to help those who are already involved in gangs to leave and find positive alternatives.

Gang outreach workers may provide a variety of services, including:

  • Counselling and support to help young people identify and pursue positive goals

  • Assistance with finding jobs and education opportunities

  • Connecting young people with community resources and support systems

  • Facilitating communication and conflict resolution within families and communities

  • Providing information about the risks and consequences of gang involvement

The specific activities and approaches of youth gang outreach programs may vary depending on the needs and priorities of the community in which they operate.
