Counselling

Complex trauma counselling is a type of therapy that is designed to help individuals who have experienced complex trauma, which is defined as exposure to multiple traumatic events over a prolonged period of time, often occurring in the context of an abusive or neglectful relationship. Complex trauma can have a profound and lasting impact on a person's mental and emotional health, and can lead to a range of symptoms including depression, anxiety, and difficulty with trust and relationships.

Complex trauma counseling is a holistic and comprehensive approach to treatment that recognizes the unique needs of individuals who have experienced complex trauma. It may involve a range of therapeutic techniques and approaches, including:

  • Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT)

  • Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)

  • Art therapy, music therapy, or other creative modalities

  • Group therapy or support groups

The goal of complex trauma counselling is to help individuals understand and process their experiences, develop coping skills and resilience, and work towards healing and recovery. This can be a challenging and emotional process, and it is important for individuals to work with a therapist who is trained and experienced in treating complex trauma.
